The Cultural Center of CHATEAU ROUGE was originally designed as a multifunctional space was no longer adapted to the functional and technical needs expected of a modern theater. Therefore, we propose more than restructuring: an almost complete reconstruction of the theater hall.
The new room is rebuilt on the site of the current room and includes the circular design. On the forecourt, the theater displays a new facade, high and largely glazed. It contributes to the requalification of the forecourt as an urban place by highlighting the reception areas and circulations that connect the current hall and the new room.
At the centre of equipment, the new scenic block which is characterized by a shallow depth of the room, indeed the most distant spectators are 23 m away from the stage. This compactness is possible by the implementation of a balcony.
Behind the stage tower is backed the House of Artists, which includes the logistic spaces and spaces dedicated to technicians and artists. With its two-sided roof and vertical windows, the more domestic scale of this building contrasts with the monumental expression of the rest of the equipment.
Facades of scenic block and circulations are composed of a metal cladding and vertical uprights with golden reflections, base on the concrete facades / ribbed pebbles of the existing building. The House of Artists is distinguished by its cladding in red tones metallic scales.
The stakes of this reconstruction project is to propose a new and modern equipment that is part of a continuity of use and appropriation to perpetuate the spirit of the place.
