Our project « DE LA VILLE CAFE/ RESTAURANT » is developing its 600 m2 within a century old parisian brasserie, today not existing anymore.
Inside, the fitting of the kitchens in the basement and on the ground floor allows the the new restaurant rooms to find their past image and ambiance, although revisited - such a an ovelap of industrial charms and perfums of long ago.
At the top of the main stairs, beneath a roof of restored mosaics, there is a long bar spreading facing the DJ's control room . They both have a shell-like golden aluminium facades containing a number of luminous perforations.
At the bottom, the lounge is conceived like a 3D puzzle where the floor becomes also a wall and a vault, leaving only some coloured openings that would light up the place. The hunting trophies hung on the wall contrast with the « artificial forest » photos that the author E. Tabuchi has intended to be « as disturbing as decorative ».
The lounge room is conceived as a « deaf » box independant from the existing walls. This wall allows to fixe all necessery technical equipments in the room : ventilation, air conditioning, electricity network and sound system. All these equipments are concealed under the fragmented surface of the wooden shell.
