On the initiative of VOLVOX music and Cabaret Pirate / La Jonque, the JONX project is born in a will to give Paris a unique cultural « tool » centered on current music. The Jonque SARL desires to develop its cultural and commercial project saving in the same time the spot's strong identitiy and to give the best conditions to receive artists and public.
Moored on the François Mauriac quay in Paris' arrondissement, the project intends to play an active part in this expanding urban area.
By 2010, it means to replace the chineese jonk by a floating building purposed as a theater hall, having a 21th century jonk's aesthetics.
JONX contains a theater hall for current music, and a terrace restaurant. It is attached to a second floating building holding the repetition studios whose second deck would allow to extend either as the restaurant's terrace or as an exterior scene. Thus, the public could be also held on the quay.
JONX is enveloped with raw aluminium metallic veils that fold and unfold as a jonk. Thus, its disposition serves to protect the superior deck containing the restaurant, as well as to offer a view to Paris and la Seine.
This nomadic project is conceived to draw alongside as much as in New York, Venice, Shanghai as in Cairo or Amsterdam...
A l'initiative de VOLVOX music et du Cabaret Pirate / La Jonque , le projet JONX naît d'une volonté d'offrir à Paris, au coeur de la nouvelle Rive Gauche, un outil culturel unique centré sur les musiques actuelles. La Jonque SARL souhaite développer son projet culturel et commercial, en gardant l'identité forte du lieu tout en se donnant les moyens d'accueillir dans les meilleures conditions artistes et public.
Amarré au quai François Mauriac à Paris dans le 13° arrondissement, le projet entend jouer un rôle actif dans cet ensemble urbain en plein essor.
D'ici 2010, elle souhaite remplacer la jonque chinoise par un établissement flottant construit pour sa finalité de salle de spectacles, ayant pour parti pris une esthétique de jonque du 21éme siècle.
JONX contient une salle de concert de musiques actuelles et un restaurant en terrasse. Y est adjoint un autre bâtiment flottant contenant les studios de répétition, et qui sur le pont supérieur permettra un prolongement de la terrasse ou une scéne extérieure dont le public se tiendra sur le quai.
JONX est habillé de voiles métalliques d'aluminium brut qui se plient et se déplient à l'image de la jonque, protégeant le pont supérieur qui accueille le restaurant profitant ainsi des vues sur Paris et la Seine. Ce projet nomade est conçu pour « accoster », tant à New York, Venise , Shanghai, qu'au Caire ou à Amsterdam.
