LE CARREAU DES HALLES - L’AUTRE FORUM, PARIS

Our proposal is for a multitude of different spaces, interpretations and uses.We propose to extend the garden to create a new urban setting, to re-establish a  relationship between the garden and the Forum, and to hint at the emergence of further developments at the central entrance to the Forums, via a building with a mullti-facetted identity.Rooted in the existing Forum, L’Autre Forum possesses great formal unity despite its conceptual complexity. Although monumental in terms of layout, it carries with it the seeds of urban renewal.Materials come to life, changing like a touch-sensitive screen, heralding trends, reflecting moods, and acting as a social laboratory. Thanks to its transitional role and the way it supports future developments, the building will help to generate new urban behaviours and new relationships between the park, the existing buildings, the shopping centre and the Metro.New buildings constructed here will have many different ways of using the entire depth of the main building and its façade as an expressive medium (for special events, etc). In this way the neighbourhood will preserve the diversity of its cultures, openly expressing its multi-layered identity and combining music workshops, cafés, tourists, shops, glimpses of the greenery outside, and industrial materials, creating a sense of organized chaos.
